Five-Minute Feature: JuiceBoxAdornments

Today I had the pleasure of discovering this grin-worthy shop, chock-full of polymer clay delights that any lover of zombies and bacon cannot live without!
The artist says: "Juice Box Adornments are for those who love Monsters ≈ Alcohol ≈ Skulls ≈ Bacon ≈ Nintendo ≈ Zombies and all other uncanny, grotesque things. All Items are products of my twisted imagination, and made by my two hands. I hope you enjoy."
I know a zombie or two who would love the Zombie Hamburger Charm!

Featured Artist: JewelrybyNala

Need an expressive necklace or pair of earrings? Ask Nala! Her designs go from simple floral-inspired to the popular kitschy antiqued brass. I'd like the Crystal Ice pair--just look at the dazzle of the crystal drops! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=33715247
The 'Love Your Life' brass necklace is quite appealing too. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35161366

Nala says: "The artistic/creative side of my brain is dominant, and I have the math skills to back me up on that! I'm just a natural born crafter. Jewelry making is not my first venture into the world of crafting, but it is definitely my favorite. I think my customers want their jewelry to make a unique statement about themselves and enhance their own personal sense of style. My jewelry is designed with that in mind. Aside from my ready made collection, I also love the challenge of creating jewelry specific to individual tastes, and I've been known to "tweak" existing pieces in my collection into custom ordered designs. All someone has to do is tell me what they have in mind, and I will work together with them to see if we can come up with exactly what they're looking for. I love making people happy like that."

She also recently was gracious enough to feature my supply shop on her blog: http://www.jewelrybynala.blogspot.com/ Thank you Nala!

Featured Artist: Maryink

Wandering the Crafty Bastards show this October, Maryink's silkscreened tees pulled me into her booth. The designs are simple, quirky but never cutesy. The moment I saw the 'key' tee, I knew it had to be mine--and I rarely buy things at fairs, especially clothes! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36793043
Maryink also makes glass votive holders with the same silkscreen style she uses with her tees. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36951605

The artists say: "Maryink is the work of Mary and Chris. We have been making shirts together for about three years. Our designs are made by arranging found vintage items, our original illustrations, clip art, photos we have taken, and the combinations of all. We print everything by hand, and are also available to print your designs."

Featured Artist: GhostLoveJewelry

GhostLoveJewelry is full of steampunk style with a gothic-lolita flair. Cameos, keys, lace and lollipops are the keywords. How about this extravagant cuff? http://bit.ly/78OCbf

The artist says: "I have been designing and hand-making jewelry for over 6 years now. My designs are not your typical Steampunk elements slapped together with the same old brass filigree and stampings that everyone else is using on a cheap chain. NO WAY. I take pride in creating fresh and new Steampunk designs that infuse my favorite elements of Victorian and Gothic Lolita styles within them and I use only the very best materials. The result is feminine, yet edgy designs with a lot of personality and quality."

Featured Artist: MonsterKookies

MonsterKookies presents irresistibly macabre mini clay wearable sculptures! Buy a zombie-friendly brain-cupcake pendant, a tentacled confection, or the anatomically-correct steampunk heart pendant!
I know a cake-zombie who doesn't yet know he needs this cupcake: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36596116 but he DOES need it--and so does every cake-zombie you know!

The artist says: " I've always wanted to be an artist! But to everyone else, art was just a hobby and nothing to make a living at. For the longest time I believed them, but one day I just decided not to. And here I am!
My forte is polymer clay. It speaks to me in strange languages. I just smile and nod and have my way with it. Then, POOF! The latest Monster Kookies creation! Blame the clay!
Polymer Clay is a jealous lover. If I am not playing or creating with it, it will haunt me. While I am sleeping, it will send in hoards of my Killer Cupcakes to turn my dreams into nightmares! And if I ignore it for too long, I can hear sobbing from my clay workspace in the night. It really is sensitive, you know.
When I am not wreaking havoc on my imagination and creating all the strange conconctions that it conjures up, I like to write as well."

And she does indeed! You should definitely check out her blog for her adventures in polymer clay, techniques and features on other artists after her own heart. monsterkookies.blogspot.com

CatchAllJewelry coils wire and gemstone beads into truly distinctive pendants, earrings and bracelets. I can hardly decide which is my favurite piece, the tattoo armlet: http://bit.ly/1o7Yfh the teardrop swirl earrings http://bit.ly/esxbY or the peacock necklace http://bit.ly/8Cqvp

The artist says: "My name is Sonia and I have been making jewelry for a couple years now. I'm inspired by indian and south american jewelry. I love bright colors and I try my best to represent that in my jewelry."

Featured Artist: TastesLikePurple

TastesLikePurple's motto is 'Life is too short to have naked walls'. What a statement! Walls are definitely naked without gargoyles and hatted kitties! This guy is kinda cute, in a stone-ominous way. http://bit.ly/4z8ZRG

The artist says: "I'm a self-taught photo hobbiest wanna-be artist. I own a mansion and a yacht. OK, that second part is not true. A late bloomer with a cranky streak peppered with hopes and dreams. I unapologetically wear black almost every day. I'm still trying to figure things out but think I'm doing a pretty fine job of it lately. I enjoy exploring my creative side when it's not driving me bonkers and I think everyone should laugh at least 20 times a day."

I just discovered Starless on Etsy! Starless makes 'filigree' ornaments--out of polymer clay! The Harvest ornament transitions from autumn decoration to Christmas ornament! http://bit.ly/nmcpa I also want this filigree-covered ballpoint pen! http://bit.ly/wYVCU

Amber the artist says: "I have been working with polymer clay since I was 11 years old, and I still discover new things every time I pick up a block. I try to make unique and fun pieces that are also useful. I'm often inspired by nature, especially fish and the ocean. Creating beautiful things is my passion, and I hope others enjoy my art as much as I enjoy making it."

Featured Artist: Wildemoon

The strong colours and clean lines of Wildemoon's digital art makes a strong statement, whether placed in a prominent place in your entryway, or tucked into a nook for an unexpected splash of colour. I've had my eye on the 'Let There Be Lips' print for a long time: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15703775

The artist says: "I have been interested in crafting and jewelry since I was a little girl. I am now a grown up graphic designer, but I find it no less enjoyable to sit down and make something with my own two hands. Being able to share the things I make, the pictures I draw, and the photos I take with others is one of the things I love most about the internet and especially about Etsy. I am always looking for new crafts to learn and new skills to hone. Right now I'm expanding the types of prints I offer and also upping my jewelry crafting skills."

Featured Artist: LizardsJewelry

Happening upon the LizardsJewelry shop, I discovered a world filled with organic wonders in silver, gemstone and polymer clay exquisitely styled in twining, curling forms in textures harking back to the natural world. Her jewelry seamlessly combines a thoroughly modern aesthetic with a age-old 'creature' appeal and a bit of childlike playfulness.
I'd like to wear this unisex Strength In Threes pendant: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=17420875

Liz the artist says: "My work combines precious metals, stones, plastics, glass or whatever shiny object catches my eye. My designs are contemporary combining both organic and geometric forms, usually with colorful stones, glass or found materials. The majority of my pieces are pendants, necklaces and earrings, though I do occasionally make other items. My main focus in the past was fabricating metals to create my designs. In 2004 I discovered a new medium called PMC (Precious Metal Clay), which has inspired new works. I enjoy exploring this new medium and combining it with my other materials. I strive to always improve on my designs and techniques and to make jewelry that is creative, unusual, elegant and fun to wear."

Featured Artist: TattooDreams

TattooDreams transforms plain wooden boxes into works of wonder as she works her rubber-stamping magic! I would like this 'Namaste' jewelry box to stash my jewelry in! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27702803

She is also a veteran art show exhibitor who very kindly shares her knowledge with those of us starting out on the circuit.

Patricia the artist says: "I create wooden boxes, tables, mirrors and accessories and use them as the 'canvas' for my thoughts and imagery. I impress my designs onto them with black paint and further embellish them with silk, handmade beads and ephemera. My line of iconic Tattoo Dreams become tomorrow's heirlooms with today's edge.
As an artist I feel the continual need to create. The need to express ones self through art is as old as time. I hope the buying public continue to support American made art and fine craft. It's a return to basic, simple values. America began by invention and making things. Let's return to that spirit!!!"

Featured Artist: CumanaIllustration

CumanaIllustration's original works are surreal, sometimes a bit creepy, but much of the time, ultimately uplifting.

Christopher the artist says: "I am a native of Southern California and now reside in Nevada.
I am graduate from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. My work is influenced by the detritus and textures found in everyday life and I incorporate
some of these elements into my work by collaging them and painting over it. My work is
also influenced by animation and animals/insects as representations of people. Animals and insects have personalities and traits that mimic our own. Everyone can be linked to a
specific species if they look deep enough.I focus on the symbiotic relationship
in my work with my anthropomorphic figures."

Featured Artist: KBrownPottery

KBrownPottery's ceramic work is unexpectedly lyrical, celebrating beautiful form just as much as function. I really like this Blue Spiral Vase: http://bit.ly/1y2hwi

Karen the artist says: "My clay work is a response to a lifetime observing in the garden. I work in white stoneware and red earthenware to make riffs on natural forms the way a jazz artist reworks a musical theme. Even when working several piece in the same form each one is a different evolution of the idea. Most of my work is thrown on a potter's wheel and then altered and decorated by hand and glazed with my own glazes."

Featured Artist: HRPhotography

HRPhotography's pictures echo single moments, snatched bits of another's introspection, a snapshot of what's most important to a stranger. This aesthetic is encapsulated by 'What Beauty Holds'--hands holding, not a butterfly, but a moth. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12527193

The artist says: "Hello, my name is Halyssa Riggins, owner of hrphotography.etsy.com. I am in the process of earning my BFA in Photography and sell some of my most cherished images through my shop on etsy. My hope is for others to appreciate and somehow relate to my art. That is one of the greatest rewards a photographer may achieve."

Featured Artist: Studiomme

The art of Etsy's Studiomme features subject matter from fairy tales both familiar and not. I'm partial to the 'Fear's Uncloaking' pieces http://bit.ly/KMVNC

Megan the artist says: "My pen and ink drawings hark back to the Golden Age of Illustration, when everything, even adult books, were illustrated with gorgeous drawings. I'm inspired by 16th century engravings and the work of Edward Gorey. I really love the different textures you can achieve from a single media just by varying your strokes. I've also done a few series with colored pencils, focusing on the intricacies of wallpaper, and I even have a few old photographs that were taken with a vintage, loaded camera I found in my grandma's closet."

All items in the shop are made by me who loves to play with colors and materials in her daily life. Some days I focus on designing jewelry, some days hair accesories, sometimes sewing. Featured Artist: VoodooMaggie

VoodooMaggie's amigurumi patterns have a delightful fairy tale theme! My favourite is the Baby Dragon. http://bit.ly/4wDwI5....Ok, and those ADORABLE pumpkins.

The artist says: "Stories need to be told, plushies need to be hugged, and everyone should learn to crochet. But if you're not interested I can draw the picture to tell your story, make a plush too scary to hug, or crochet for you anything you can think of. Just let me know, I'll be here when you need me. Crocheting is my sanity, I dream in fiber without the outlet of Etsy I'd probably have crocheted my own house just for something to do. I'm always up for suggestions cause I like to keep myself busy to the point of exhaustion."
